Rethinking sales starts with admitting the obvious—most of us don’t like it. For many women in business, the very word makes our skin crawl. Sales feels slimy, forced, and completely out of sync with who we are.
But what if sales wasn’t about hustling for the “yes” at all? What if it was about conversations, connection, and serving people right where they are?
That’s exactly what my guest Stefani Pady discovered after two decades in corporate America. In the middle of what looked like a dream career on paper, she hit burnout. Then she read the Bible cover to cover for the first time—and everything changed.
God showed her her worth didn’t come from quotas, bosses, or performance. That revelation birthed her ministry, Women, Worship and Work, and her coaching practice, GLS Coaching and Consulting. Today, she helps women anchor their identity in Christ while navigating the realities of leadership, business, and life.
Why We Struggle With Sales
Sales feels heavy when we make it about us—our success, our paycheck, our performance. Stefani reframes it:
“Sales isn’t about closing; it’s about helping.”
Instead of pushing for the yes, she encourages us to approach sales as an opportunity to learn about someone else’s business, needs, or story—and then serve them.
That one perspective shift makes the whole process lighter, more natural, and actually fun.
The Jesus Model of Influence
Who was the best salesman of all time? Jesus.
Think about it: He grew His ministry one conversation at a time, walking at a three-mile-per-hour pace. He told stories, asked questions, and invited people boldly.
“When we walk in our calling because we’ve been with Jesus, even sales stops feeling salesy.”
That’s the heart of biblical influence—it’s not manipulation, it’s transformation.
Stefani’s Practical Sales Tips (That Work for Introverts Too)
“One of the models she teaches comes from The Challenger Sale, a classic book on influence and customer conversations.”
Here are also a few of her favorite strategies you can start using today:
- Ask open-ended questions. Instead of “Do you need this?” ask, “How are you navigating this challenge?” It opens the door for real conversation.
- Know your decision makers. Build relationships not just with clients but with the people who influence them.
- Always close with a next step. It doesn’t have to be a contract—it could be a follow-up call, an introduction, or an action point.
- Choose joy over urgency. Filter your to-do list by what fuels you, not just what screams the loudest.
For introverts (🙋♀️ raising my hand here), these tips take the pressure off pitching and make it about connecting.

Bringing It Back to Scripture
One of Stefani’s favorite Greek words in the Bible is parresia—bold, fearless speech. In Acts 4:13, people marveled at the courage of Peter and John, recognizing that they had been with Jesus.
That’s the key. When you’ve been with Jesus, even sales becomes an act of service, not striving.
Ready to Rethink Sales?
If you’ve been stuck believing sales is “not for you,” maybe it’s time for a new lens. Sales can be kingdom work when it’s rooted in Scripture, service, and Spirit-led boldness.
