I am huge audio books because I listen to them as I’m driving. I have a 20-ish minute commute and I like to seize those moments for self-development.
John Maxwell is one of my very favorite authors. I think he’s an amazing man, an amazing speaker with amazing views on leadership. Recently, I was listening to his book called The Power of Significance; where he talks about finding significance in your life.
The book is based on an interesting premise and it’s this; Everybody has ONE THING that they were made for, one thing that you can do better than anybody else. One thing that God completely equips you for; or at least equipped you with the desire to learn so you can be the go-to person for that thing.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not very good at looking at myself and seeing those types of things. I think we typically have such bad cases of “compare-itis” that we are to busy measuring ourselves against others and we can’t see our own gifts. Anyone else – or is that just me?
When you think about your one thing, how does that make you feel? Do you have one thing that you feel completely equipped for? Maybe I shouldn’t say completely equipped. Any time you are truly called to something it can be scary. It should be scary! If you feel like you can handle it on your own, then you’re probably not relying on God.
So, I ask you…
Do you love doing what do?
What do you feel like you should be doing?
What is God asking you to do with your life?
Who has God given you to serve?
Those questions are the ones that you answer to find YOUR one thing.
Do you have one thing that you feel incredibly equipped to deal with? One things that you feel called to do that you need to get equipped for? I’d love for you to tell me in the comments so that I can pray for you and be cheering you on! Don’t wait and if you are afraid – do it scared!
Someone out there is counting on you.
